Location:
Homes for sale in Yerba Buena are found between Market Street to the north and I-80 to the south, and between 5th Streets on the west and Main St. on the east (roughly). Many people think of it as SOMA or the South of Market Area, but it is a separate MLS subdistrict.
Housing Stock/Style:
Condominiums are the main type of homes for sale in Yerba Buena. There are some lofts in the neighborhood, but for all practical purposes there are no single family homes in the neighborhood. You’ll find some of San Francisco’s largest and most luxurious condo buildings in Yerba Buena, including the Four Seasons, the St. Regis, and the Millennium Tower.
Latte Factor:
High. There are numerous coffee shops and stores throughout the neighborhood, and the Ferry building is home to a farmer’s market several times a week. Yerba Buena an incredibly walkable neighborhood.
Transit Options:
Numerous! The transbay transit center is being rebuilt, the neighborhood may someday be home to high-speed rail, there are numerous bus lines that traverse the district, and Muni train and BART stations run underground along Market Street.
Neighborhood Factoid:
Most of Yerba Buena is in a liquefaction zone. Much of the area is built on fill or was originally very sandy soil. Homes for sale will disclose if they are in a liquefaction zone in the natural hazards report.
